Project logistics

How the donation works.

George Petrides offers the sculpture as an outright donation to institutions, for public display with credit to the artist. The recipient selects an indoor or outdoor placement, arranges collection from the New York studio and builds the base. The studio donates the sculpture and provides instructions.

Recipient institution

Confirms and installs.

  • Confirm interest in accepting the donation for the institution
  • Select an indoor (85 cm) or outdoor (100 cm) placement
  • Display the sculpture publicly and credit George Petrides as the artist
  • Arrange and pay for collection from the New York studio, transport, insurance, customs and any applicable approvals
  • Arrange fabrication of the plaque
  • Build the indoor or outdoor base using studio instructions and arrange installation; for outdoor placement, arrange lighting and landscaping
  • Arrange any dedication event, if desired

Petrides Public Sculpture

Prepares and provides.

  • Confirm the donation arrangements with the recipient institution
  • Provide the sculpture, ready for collection by an art transport company from the New York studio
  • Provide instructions for construction of the indoor or outdoor base
  • Provide installation instructions
  • Provide care instructions, including specifications for the protective coating used outdoors

Terms

A donation for public display.


The sculpture is donated at no charge to the recipient institution, with public display and artist credit required. The institution pays for collection and transport from New York, insurance, customs, plaque fabrication, construction of the base and installation, including any lighting and landscaping.

Care of the work after installation rests with the recipient. Insurance value: US$170,000 for the 85 cm portrait; US$250,000 for the 100 cm portrait.

Timing

Planning the placement.


Shipment is scheduled following confirmation of placement and completion of applicable approvals and logistical arrangements. Lead time for each size is confirmed on enquiry.

For an outdoor placement, allow for local engineering approval of the foundation and for fabrication of the curved bronze plaque, typically about six weeks from order.
