Jefferson outdoor base: elevation and plan100 cm sculpture on a 140 cm high, 65 cm diameter cylindrical base. The base is cast 150 cm high; its top 10 cm fits into a recess in the sculpture. Overall height approximately 240 cm. A 165 cm person indicates scale. Foundation size and depth require engineering design. Key measurements

Sculpture100 cm high
BaseCylinder, Ø 65 cm; 140 cm exposed above finished grade
Constructed150 cm. The cylinder is cast 10 cm taller than its exposed height, because its top 10 cm fits into a recess in the underside of the sculpture.
OverallApproximately 240 cm
ScaleA figure of 165 cm is shown in the elevation for reference
FoundationSuggested: reinforced footing 100 × 100 cm and 30 cm thick, its top 40 cm and its underside 70 cm below finished grade. The formwork tube is cut to 190 cm: 150 cm above grade plus 40 cm down to the top of the footing. Size, depth and reinforcement to be confirmed by the engineer. The footing sits below finished grade, so only the cylinder is visible.
